This seminar will be a complete breakdown of my theories on the importance of light and how it works when falling over anatomical and biomechanical forms. The major topics will include a brief history of lighting effects applied in art, as well as discussing value theory and reference development. The goal of this seminar is to help the student better understand the reasons why I make the decisions with color and value, and how those decisions work on the form I am illustrating and tattooing.
The seminar covers my theory of light and how it responds to form, inventing light sources, building form, and how to discern the shape of a value. It will be heavily based on value theories. This seminar will also based on drawing techniques that can be applied to any medium.
Main forms to be studied are the eye, the face, and the hand to better understand their anatomy and importance in illustrating figures. I will also cover a heavy study of a few common biomechanical forms.
Every student will receive a study packet with notes and illustrations about topics covered. Also, students will be encouraged to take notes, so bring a sketchbook,
some pencils and erasers to participate in the lesson and be able to get more hands on knowledge, and one-on-one feedback.
Course Length: 2 hours

NATHAN KOSTECHKO
"HAND TATTOOS"
The seminar will be based on 'Hand Tattoos' rather than a specific technique or style. Hands have seem to be this elusive object in tattooing, also sacred at the same time. I feel that i have had some good luck with hands, and bad... but I have learned how to get them in there proper, so I want to teach the rest of the tattoo community what I know... I will be doing everything from how I go about preparing for and designing the tattoo, placement, set up from my machines, needles, ink, why I use these items specifically and how I use them, photographing the tattoo, healing tricks for hands, basically anything and everything I know about hand tattoos. This will be about an hour to hour and half long, each attendee will receive an informational packet with everything I cover from the seminar. Also, after the seminar I will be tattooing a hand tattoo at my booth, allowing anyone and everyone to come by and see the techniques first hand.
Course Length: 2 hours

CHRIS DINGWELL

He has a graduate degree in Fine Arts from Ohio State University, and has taught college level art courses for several years before diving headlong into the tattoo world. He began tattooing in 1993 in Columbus Ohio. He has travelled extensively and worked with many great figures in the tattoo industry, including Guy Aitchison, Corey Kruger, Julie Moon, and many more.
This seminar will present a pre-view of the forthcoming book about acrylic painting techniques that Chris Dingwell and Cory Kruger are co-writing. The book will be published later in the year by Guy Aitchison's Proton Press. This seminar is for anyone who is at all interested in painting, from first timers looking for a place to start to the seasoned veteran who is looking to expand in new directions. He will debunk the myths about the medium and discuss the advantages of acrylic paint and how it can work for you. He will discuss a wide variety of materials, techniques, and approaches to the medium that are available today; showing examples through slides and live demonstration. Covering everything from composition and color to layering, glazing, and working with mixed materials, he will discuss various approaches to painting and art making with a strong focus on experimentation and working WAY outside the box. He will be discussing ideas that can be applied to help improve any kind of art making, including your tattooing.
Participants are encouraged to contribute their thoughts and questions to this lively discussion about the ins and outs of acrylic painting. This should be an entertaining as well as informative event for any artist, no matter how new or old.

MAGNETIC FINGER JEWELRY: THEORY AND PRACTICE
$175 pre-paid online / $200 door
In February of 2004, after several years of research and development, Steve Haworth and Jesse Jarrell collaborated to create the first magnetic finger jewelry. The first subject was placed in the finger of Todd Huffman. This seminar goes over the history of magnetic finger jewelry, including its successes and failures. In this power point seminar there will be many images showing the multiple techniques for placing magnetic finger jewelry as well as aftercare. It will also include how to improve success of this modification that modern science is now calling Magnetic Vision or the Sixth Sense. Steve will go over the many ways that magnetic finger jewelry has enhanced his and many others’ ability to perceive the world around them with demonstrations that can actually be felt by the observer with both static and oscillating magnetic fields. Attendees will receive a certificate of attendance.
In 1994, Steve created the concept of “laser” branding using electro-cautery tools. What was only meant for the medical community as a functional device, electro-cautery branding has made its way to the body modification community as a means to decorate ourselves. There is much functionality to electro-cautery branding that will be covered besides just branding. The Successful Techniques for Laser Branding Seminar will last 1 to 1.5 hours. Steve will discuss the difference between laser branding, strike branding and thermo branding. He will show the various techniques for incorporating scarification with laser branding and he will also explain the different kind of tools and how they are used to create this unique form of branding. A certificate of attendance is provided.
